AC Repairs: Why Your Air Conditioner Isn't Blowing Cool Air

Posted on

As the temperatures rise throughout the summer, the last thing that you want to be dealing with is an air conditioner that is not blowing out cool air. There are many reasons that this is an issue you may be dealing with, but the good news is that most of them are repairs that can be quickly and easily fixed. Keep reading to learn a few of the common issues and how to fix them.

Obstructions

When your air conditioning system is not properly cooling your home, your first step should be to inspect the unit outside the house. Dirt, dust, debris, and other types of obstructions may be keeping the fan from allowing air to get into the system. If this is the problem, you will want to remove any obstacles that are blocking the fan in order to restore the cool airflow. If the problem continues, you should have a professional inspect the motor for any possible issues.

Tripped Breakers

If your air conditioning unit suffers a reduction or complete loss of power, you will notice that the air coming out of your vents inside of the home is lukewarm. More than likely, there is an issue with your circuit breakers, so go reset them so that your air conditioning system will have an adequate amount of power to cool your home effectively. Of course, if this does not work, there may be a more serious electrical problem occurring that requires the assistance of an AC repair professional for safety purposes.

Faulty Thermostat

Another problem that could be causing your air conditioner to blow out warm air is the thermostat. It may be as simple as adjusting the temperature or switching the thermostat back to cool from heat. Of course, the thermostat could be defective for one reason or another, but only a professional is going to be able to diagnose this issue by coming out to your home and performing a full inspection.

If your air conditioning unit is blowing out warm air, the aforementioned issues may be to blame. You will be able to check all of them and perform some minor fixes on your own to see if you can remedy the situation. If you are unable to take care of the problem on your own and are still dealing with warm air blowing from your AC unit, you will need to contact an AC repair service.
